Marc Forgione– This romantic spot boasts farm-to-table cuisine in a candle-lit rustic setting. The attentive service and thought that goes into each dish is impressive. From the moment you sit down, you’re served two fresh potato rolls sprinkled with black sea salt and a side of homemade garlic butter, which certainly makes for a memorable first impression. Don’t leave without ordering their famous Chicken Under a Brick dish, which is meant for two- how appropriate! Insider tip: If it’s a special occasion, like a birthday, they’ll give you some champagne on the house.
Charlie Bird– Simultaneously hip, cozy and sexy. This dimly lit Italian-American spot has the ambiance for a perfect date night. Highlights include an extensive wine list, a hearty farro salad, a famous roasted chicken dish and caramelized cauliflower. Insider tip: The servings tend to be a bit small, so order a bunch of things to share.
Flex Mussels– An easy go-to spot with multiple locations throughout NYC. The highlight here is obviously: the mussels, that can be prepared in over 23 different sauces- the Parma style is a crowd favorite. The truffle fries and the doughnuts are also not to be missed. Lafayette– This expansive space complete with chic Parisian decor, high ceilings and towering windows will ensure that you and your date have all the space you need. They’ve been known to cook some perfect duck and steak dishes. Insider tip: Also a great spot for brunch with a group.
The House– This small and cozy 1854 restored carriage house is located on a quiet block tucked away from Union Square near the corner of 17th and Irving. It is absolutely quaint charming, even from the outside. Eating inside this rustic townhouse with the fireplace ablaze makes for an incredibly intimate and comfortable setting. Not to mention the array of comfort foods including Truffled “Mac & Cheese”, Mushroom Flatbread with White Truffle Oil and The House Lasagna. Insider tip: Your table options include sitting fireside on the 1st floor, a view of Gramercy Park from a table on the second floor, or a spot at the Chef’s Table in the wine cellar.
